The south side of the street in Cripplegate Ward Without and Coleman Street Ward, the northern side outside the City boundary in the borough of Finsbury.

First mention: There was a Presbyterian Meeting house in "Ropemakers Alley" in 1672 (L. and P. Chas. II. XII. 273).

Called " Ropemakers Street,' (Horwood, 1799).
