Thanet House

Adjoined the George Inn. This inn is shown in Rocque, 1746, but not Thanet House. The residence of Anthony Ashley Cooper, Earl of Shaftesbury, and afterwards the

City of London Lying-In Hospital, founded 1750.

Site now occupied by Shaftesbury Place (q.v.).
