1) stiff, or strongly; as, stark mad, stark nought. C. From the German STARR, strong.


2) stiff, weary ; ab A. S. STERC, STRAOE, rigidus, durus ; Belg. & Dan. STERCK ; Teut. STARCK, validus, robustus, firmus. Vide Skinner.

3) stiff, from too much exercise, or from the rheumatism, &c. North. Fat, when cold, is stark, and so is a corpse. North.
