barking ; probably from the sound. N. pronounced [WAFFING]; a waffing cur is a little barking dog. A species of cur is called a WAPPE in Pennant's British Zoology, 8vo. I. pp. 50. 57. whence, by change of the letters, it may perhaps be applied.
