The state of being liable to answer for one's conduct; liable to give account, and to receive reward or punishment for actions.--Webster. This word, so much used by our divines, is not to be found in any English Dictionary except the recent one of Mr. Knowles. Mr. Todd, in his additions to Johnson's Dictionary, has accountableness, the state of being accountable.
