1) A large piece or slice; a big lump. Ex. 'A great hunk of bread and cheese.' It is a variation of the word hunch, which is used in England in precisely the same manner. See Grose and Moor's glossaries.


2) (Dutch, honk.) A goal, or place of refuge. A word much used by New York boys in their play.
