the aboriginal word for the Kangaroo Apple (q.v.), though the name is morestrictly applied not to Solanum aviculare, but to S. vescum.

«The similarity of both [ S. vescum and S.aviculare] to each other forbids to recommendthe fruit of the Gunyang as edible.»

1878. W. R. Guilfoyle, `Australian Botany,' p. 73:

«Kangaroo Apple, Solanum aviculare. . . . The Gunyang( Solanum vescum) is another variety found in Victoria.»

1888. D. Macdonald, `Gum Boughs,' p. 222:

«A couple of tiny streams trickle across the plains to the sea,a dwarfed ti-tree, clinging low about the ground, like thegunyang or kangaroo apple, borders the banks.»
