the Australian legal term forthe large area granted as a «reward» to the miner who firstdiscovers valuable gold in a new district, and reports it tothe Warden of the Goldfields. The first great discovery ofgold in Coolgardie was made by Bayley in 1893, and hisreward-claim, sold to a syndicate, was known as «Bayley'sReward.» See also Prospecting Claim, and Claim.
