Arrhapachitis

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

ARRHAPACHI´TIS(Ἀρραπαχῖτις, Ptol. 6.1.2), a district of Assyria Proper, adjoining Armenia, named probably from a town which Ptol. (6.1 § 6) calls Arrhapa (Ἄρριανά). The name is, perhaps, connected with Arphaxad, as Bochart ( Geog. Sacr. 2.100.4) has conjectured.
