BEER(Βηρά), mentioned only once in Scripture ( Judges. 9.21). It is placed by Eusebius and St. Jerome in the great plain, ten miles north of Eleutheropolis ( BeitJebrin), and a deserted village named el-Bîreh, situated near the site of Beth-Shemesh, serves to confirm their notice. It is sometimes supposed to be identical with the following, though they are distinguished by the above-cited authors.
