BELISAMA(Aestuarium), in Britain, mentioned by Ptolemy (Ptol. 2.3.2) as south of Morecambe ( Morecame Bay), and, consequently, most probably the mouth of the Ribble, though Horsley identifies it with that of the Mersey. [R.G.L]
