Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

CALINIPAXA(prob. Kanouge), a city of India intra Gangem, made known to the Greeks by the expedition of Seleuclus Nicator. It stood on the Ganges considerably above its confluence with the Jornanes ( Jumna), 625 M. P. above, according to the itineraries of the expedition, in which however the numbers were evidently confused. (Plin. Nat. 6.17. s. 21.)
