CARMAEI a tribe of the Minaei [MINAEI], mentioned by Pliny (Plin. Nat. 6.28. s. 32), probably the same as the Ἀκαρμὰν βασίλειονof Ptolemy (Ptol. 6.16), which Forster identifies with the modern town Karn-al-Manzilin the Hedjazbetween Tayifand Mekka, about 50 miles SE. of the latter (Arabia, vol. i. pp. 133, 134, vol. ii. pp. 255—258).
