Carvancas

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

CARVANCAS(Καρουάγκας), a mountain forming the northern bonudary between Pannonia and Noricum. It extended from Mount Ocra in the W. to Mount Cetius in the E., in the neighbourhood of Aemona. It must accordingly be identified with the range between the Sömmeringand Schöckl. (Ptol. 2.14.1, 3.1.1, where, however, the common reading is Καρουσαδίῳ.)
