CASINOMAGUS in Transalpine Gaul, is placed by the Table on a road from Mediolanum Santonum ( Saintes) to Ausritum, Augustoritum ( Lirnmoes), 25 1/2 Roman miles from Limoges. It seems to be Chassenon, on the left bank of the Vienne, which is a probable corruption of Casinomagus. D'Anville discusses the position of another Casinomagus some—where between Auchand Toulouse, but nothing can be made of it. G. L.]
