CHATENI an Arab tribe inhabiting the Sinus Capenus, which Pliny places on the west side of the Persian Gulf, and a little north of the Sinus Gerraicus (6.28. s. 32): the Sinus Capenus is at once identified with Chat, or KatiffBay, by the mention of its inhabitants, the Chateni.(Forster, Arabia, vol. 2. p. 216.)
