Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

CRITALLA(τὰ Κρίταλλα), a place in Cappadocia, where all the army of Xerxes was mustered, and from which he set out to march to Sardis. (Hdt. 7.26.) He crossed the Halys after leaving Critalla, and came to Celaenae in Phrygia. This is the only indication of the position of Critalla.
