GORTY´NIA(Γορτυνία, Γορδονία: Eth. Γορδυνιάτης, Steph. B.; Γορδηνία, Γορδουνία, Ptol. 3.13.39), a place in Macedonia which the host of Sitalces passed in their march between Idomene and the plains of Cyrrhus and Pella (Thuc. 2.100). Hence its position must be looked for in the upper valley of the river Axius. (Leake, Northern Greece, vol. 3. p. 444.)
