Harpageia

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

HARPAGEIA(τὰ Ἁρπαγεῖα), a district between Priapus and Cyzicus, about the mouth of the river Granicus in Mysia, whence Ganymede is said to have been carried off. (Strab. 13. p. 587.) Thucydides (Thuc. 8.107) also mentions a town Harpagion (Ἁρπάγιον), which is otherwise unknown. (Comp. Steph. B. s. v. Ἁρπάγια.)
