HESSUS(Ἡσσός: Eth. Ἥσσιος), a town of the Locri Ozolae, upon the coast of the Corinthian gulf, and on the road to Naupactus. Its exact site is uncertain, but it is probably represented by the Hellenicr emains at Vítharior Polypórtu. (Thuc. 3.101; Steph. B. s. v.;Leake, Northern Greece, vol. 2. p. 620.)
