HIRROS a river of Asiatic, Sarmatia, with a town of the same name, 136 M. P. from Heracleum, and 67 M. P. from Sindica (Plin. Nat. 6.5). It is, probably, the same place as the HIEROS PORTUS of the Periplus, which Rennell ( Compar. Geog. vol. 2. p. 325) identifies with the deep inlet or small gulf of Sunjuk-kalain the Russian chart.
