INTELE´NE(Ἰντηληνή), one of the five provinces W. of the Tigris, ceded, in A.D. 297, by Narses to Galerius and the Romans. (Petr. Patr. Fr. 14, Fraym. Hist. Graec. ed. Muller; Gibbon, c. xiii.) St. Martin, in his note to Le Beau ( Bas Empire, vol. j. p. 380), would read for Intelene, Ingilene (Ἰγγιλήνη), the name of a small province of Armenia near the sources of the Tigris mentioned by Epiphanius ( Haeres. LX. vol. 1. p. 505, ed Valesius; comp. St. Martin, Mém. sur l'Armenie, vol. i. pp. 23, 97.)
