MEMBRE´SA(Μέμβρησα), a town of the proconsular province, the position of which is fixed by Procopius ( B. V. 2.15) at 350 stadia from Carthage. Membressa (Membrissa, Peut. Tab. ), as it is called in the Antonine Itinerary, was a station between Musti, and Silicibba, and a place of some importance in ecclesiastical history. (Morcelli, Africa Christiana, vol. 1. p. 223.)
