MOXOE´NE one of the five provinces beyond the Tigris, ceded by Narses to Galerius and the Romans, and which Sapor afterwards recovered from Jovian. (Ammian. 25.7.9, comp. 23.3.5; Le Beau, Bas Empire, vol. 1. p. 380, vol. 3. p. 161; Gibbon, cc. xiii. xxiv.). Its exact position cannot be made out, though it must have been near Kurdistán.
