Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

NOVAS, AD, a fortress of Upper Moesia, situated on the Danube, and on the road from Viminacium to Nicomedia. ( Itin. Ant. p. 218.) It lay about 48 miles E. of the former of those towns. It is identified with Kolumbatz, where there are still traces of ancient fortifications.
