OENUSSAE(Οἰνοῦσσαι, Οἰνοῦσαι).

1. A group of islands off the coast of Messenia. [Vol. 2. 342b.]


2. A group of islands between Chios and the Asiatic coast. (Hdt. 1.165; Thuc. 8.24; Steph. B. s. v.) They are five in number, now called Spalmadoresor Ergonisi. Pliny (v.31. s. 38) mentions only one island.
