PAGYRI´TAE(Παγυρῖται, Ptol. 3.5.22), a people of European Sarmatia, whose position cannot be made out. Schafarik ( Slav. Alt. vol. 1. p. 211) connects the termination of their name with the word gura,which the Poles and other Busso-Slavonian stocks use for gora,mountain.
