Sargetia

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

SARGE´TIA(Σαργετία, Dio Cass.; Σαργεντία, Tzetz. Chil. 2.61; Σαργέντιος, Tzetz. Chil. 6.53), a river of Dacia, upon which stood the royal palace of Decebalus. This river must be identified with the Strelor Strey, a tributary of the Marosch, since we know that Sarmizegethusa was the residence of Decebalus. [SARMIZEGETHUSA] (Ukert, vol. iii. pt. 2. p. 603.)
