Serbi

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

SERBI or SIRBI(Σέρβοιor Σίρβοι, Ptol. 5.9.21), a people in Asiatic Sarmatia, according to Ptolemy (l. c.) between the Ceraunian mountains and the river Rha, above the Diduri and below the Vali. Pliny, however (6.7. s. 7), places them on the E. shore of the Maeotis, between the Vali and the Arrechi. (Comp. Schaffarik, Slav. Alterth. 1. p. 165.)
