Tarsia

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

TA´RSIA(Ταρσίη, Arrian, Ind. 100.37), a promontory on the coast of Carmania, visited by the fleet of Nearchus. The conjecture of Vincent ( Voyage of Nearchus, 1. p. 362) that it is represented by the present Rás-al-Djerdappears well founded. It is perhaps the same as the Themisteas Promontorium of Pliny (Plin. Nat. 6.25) as suggested by Müller ( Geog. Graec. 1. p. 360.)
