TAURA´NIA a town of Campania, mentioned only by Pliny (Plin. Nat. 3.5. s. 9) as having in his time entirely disappeared, like Stabiae. He affords no clue to its position. The name of Taurania (Ταυρανία) is found also in the older editions of Stephanus of Byzantium; but it appears that the true reading is Taurasia. (Steph. B. s. v. ed. Mein.)
