Termilae

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

TERMILAE(Τερμίλαι) is said to have been the ancient name of the inhabitants of Lydia, before the name Lydi came into use. These Termilae were believed to have come from Crete; and even in the time of Herodotus the Lydians were often called Termilae by the neighbouring nations. (Hdt. 1.173, 7.92; Paus. 1.19.4.)
