Vindogladia

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

VINDOGLA´DIA a place in Britannia Romana, probably in the territory of the Belgae on the road from Venta Belgarum to Isca Dumnoniorum. ( Itin. Ant. pp. 483, 486.) The Geogr. Rav. (5.31) calls it Bindogladia. Some place it at Pentridge, near Old Sarum, where are remains of Roman fortifications. Camden, however (p. 61), identifies it with Winburn, and Horsley (p. 472) with Cranburn.
