VORDENSES in Gallia Narbonensis, an ethnic name which occurs in an inscription found at Apt, the site of Apta Julia [APTA JULIA]. The inscription states that the Vordenses paganidedicate this monument to their patronus, who is designated IIII virof the Colonia Apta. The place is supposed to be Gordes, which is contiguous to the diocese of Apt, and in that of Cavaillon. The change of Vordinto Gordis easily explained. [VAPINCUM] (D'Anville, Notice, c).
