ZERYNTHUS(Ζήρυνθος, Lycophr. 77; Steph. B. s. v.), a town of Thrace not far from the borders of the Aenianes. It contained a cave of Hecate, a temple of Apollo, and another of Aphrodite, which two deities hence derived the epithet of Zerynthian. (Cf. Liv. 38.41; Ov. Tr. 1.10. 19; Tzetz. ad Lycophr. 449, 958.)
