Three Tun Court

A Dictionary of London by Henry A Harben.

1) East out of St. Michael's Lane at No. 24. In Bridge Ward Within and Candlewick Ward (Strype, 1720-Elmes, 1831).

Former names: "Kiffit's Court" (O. and M. 1677).

In Strype's maps it is shown west out of St. Michael's Lane on the site of " Fen Court," but this is probably a mistake, due to a confusion of the numbers by which the names are indicated in his maps.

The site has been rebuilt, possibly when King William Street was formed.

Named after the tavern there (End. Charities Report, 1903, St. Michael's parish, p.9).

2) In Fleet Lane (W. Stow, 1722, and P.C. 1732). Not named in the maps.

3) In Crooked Lane (P.C. I 732-Boyle, I 799).

Not named in the maps.

Qy. = Three Tun Alley, Thames Street, Court, Thames Street.

4) See Crown Court, Moorfields.
