Bacchis

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

BACCHIS(Βακχίς, Ptol. 4.5.35), one of the numerous towns or villages which lined the shores of the lake Moeris, and of which indiscriminate mounds of ruin alone attest the existence. Bacchis is supposed by modern travellers (Belzoni, vol. 2. p. 153) to have stood on the eastern bank of the lake, and to be now partially covered by the modern hamlet of Medinet-Nimroud.
