BARNUS(Βαρνοῦς), a town on the Via Egnatia, and apparently upon the confines of Illyria and Macedonia, between Lychnidus and Heracleia. (Polyb. ap. Strab. 7. p. 322.) Leake, however, conjectures that it may be the same place as Arnissa, B being a common Macedonian prefix. (Leake, Northern Greece. vol. 3. p. 316.) [ARNISSA]
