Bumadus

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

BUMADUS(Βουμώδος, Arrian, 3.8; Curt. 4.9; Βουμήλος, Arrian, 6.11), a small stream in Assyria about sixty stadia from Arbela. The name is met with in the MSS. with various spellings—Bumadus, Bumodus, Bumelus, Bumolus. It is said (Forbiger, Handbuch, vol. 2. p. 608) to be now called the Khazir. Tavernier (2.100.5.) states that he met with a stream called the Bohrus, which, he thinks, may be identified with it.
