Cedreae

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

CE´DREAE(Κεδρεαί, Κεδρειαί: Eth. Κεδρεάτης. Κεδραῖος), a city of Caria, mentioned by Hecataeus. (Steph. s. v. Κεδρεαί.) Lysander took the place, it being in alliance with the Athenians. The inhabitants were μιχοβάρβαροι, a mixture of Greeks and barbarians, as we may suppose. It was on the Ceramicus gulf in Caria; but the site is unknown. (Xen. Hell. 2.1. 15)
