CERINTHUS(Κήρινθος: Eth. Κηρίνθιος), a town upon the north-eastern coast of Euboea, and near the small river Budorus, said to have been founded by the Athenian Cothus. It is mentioned by Homer, and was still extant in the time of Strabo, who speaks of it as a small place. (Hom. Il. 2.538; Scymn. Ch. 576; Strab. 10. p. 446; Apollon. 1.79; Ptol. 3.1,5.25; Plin.
