Dabasae

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

DABASAE(Δαβάσαι, Ptol. 7.2.18), a people of the district called by the ancients India intra Gangem,to the east of Nipál. There is some doubt about the orthography of their name, which is sometimes written Labasae. They are probably connected with the range of mountains called τὰ Δάμασσα ὄρη (Ptol. 7.2.18), and which are most likely represented by the eastern spur of the Nipál Himalayas.
