DANUM in Britain, mentioned in the eighth Itinerary as being the second station on the road from York to Lincoln. Name for name, and place for place, Danum == Don-caster. Danum was the station of the Praefectus Equitum Crispianorum of the Notitia.Roman remains are found at Doncaster.
