EBUROVI´CES a Gallic tribe, a branch of the Aulerci. [AULEMCI.] They are mentioned by Caesar ( B. G. 3.17) with the Lexovii. Pliny (Plin. Nat. 15.18) speaks of the Aulerci, qui cognominantur Eburovices, et qui Cenomani.Ptolemy (Ptol. 2.8) makes the Αὐλέρκοι Ἐβουραϊκοίextend from the Ligeris to the Sequana, which is not true. Their chief place was Mediolanum ( Evreux). Their limits correspond to those of the diocese of Evreux, and they are north of the Carnutes.
