Erana

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

ERANA(ἡ Ἔρανα), a town in Messenia, mentioned by Strabo as lying upon the road between Cyparissia and Pylos. It was, probably, near the promontory Cyparissium. According to Strabo, it was erroneously identified by some with the Homeric Arene. (Strab. viii. pp. 348, 361; Leake, Morea, vol. 1. p. 426, seq.)
