HYANTES(Ὕαντες), are mentioned among the aboriginal inhabitants of Boeotia, who were driven out of this country by the Cadmeians, whereupon they founded the town of Hyampolis in Phocis. (Paus. 9.5.1, 9.35.5; Strab. 7. p. 321, ix. pp. 401, 424, 10. p. 464.)
