NYMPHAEUM(Νύμφαιον, Strab. 7. p. 330; Ptol. 3.13.11), the promontory to the S. of the peninsula of Acte, from whence Mt. Athos rises abruptly to the very summit. It is now called Kára Hághio Ghiórghi. (Leake, North. Greece, vol. iii. pp. 114, 149.)
