SATYRI MONUMENTUM(τὸ Σατύρου μνῆμα, Strab. 11. p. 494), a monument consisting of a vast mound of earth, erected in a very conspicuous situation on a promontory on the E. side of the Cimmerian Bosporus, 90 stadia S. of Achilleum, It was in honour of a king of Bosporus, whom Dubois de Montpéreux identifies with Satyrus I., who reigned B.C. 407—393. ( Voyage autour du Caucase, 5. p. 48.) The same authority (lb.p. 36) identifies the mound with the hill Koukuoba.
