Segni

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

SEGNI a German tribe in Belgium, mentioned by Caesar ( B. G. 6.32) with the Condrusi, and placed between the Eburones and the Treviri. In B. G. 2.4 Caesar speaks of the Condrusi, Eburones, Caeraesi, and Paemani, qui uno nomine Germani appellantur;but he does not name the Segni in that passage. There is still a place named Sineior Signeinear Condroz, on the borders of Namur;and this may indicate the position of the Segni.
