ZONE(Plin. Nat. 4.11. s. 18; Mela, 2.2.8; Ζώνη, Herodot. 7.59; Scyl. p. 27; Steph. B. p. 291; Schol. Nicand. Ther. 462; Schol. Apoll. Rhod. 1.29), a town on the S. coast of Thrace, on a promontory of the same name, a short distance to the W. of the entrance of the Lacus Stentoris. According to Apollonius and Mela (ll. cc.) it was to this place that the woods followed Orpheus, when set in motion by his wondrous music.
